The Transforming Power Of Camp

Over the years, we have discovered the power of blending therapeutic activities with high-energy camp fun. Carefully sequenced activities allow children who have been affected by cases of suicide, murder, drunk driving, drug overdoses (and sadly more) have permission to feel free to play and laugh again.

Any willing person who has experienced loss can easily volunteer to be trained to help these children. During this time, you will meet and serve with others that understand you, and together we will experience and witness the miracles of healing hurting hearts.

Transforming lives. That’s the power of camp.

Camp Agape is such a special place for anyone who is grieving the loss of a loved one. I have volunteered at Camp Agape for many years and it is such a rewarding experience to be able to see the change in kids from when the arrive at camp to when they leave. It’s amazing to see the way the Lord moves through this ministry, and I would highly recommend to anyone!

I volunteered as a buddy for Camp Agape last year and it is truly one of the most meaningful experiences I have ever had. I am a funeral director, so I have felt a strong calling to help the grieving for years and I truly believe that God led me to Camp Agape. I was very nervous, because I did not know what to expect. I did not know if my experience in my job had prepared me enough to help a child, but the staff at the camp were so amazing in helping to make me feel prepared. I went there to help the grieving on a deeper level, what I did not expect was how healing the experience would be for me. I lost my father at the age of 16, my camper had just lost her mother, so I feel that I was really able to create a bond with her through the shared loss of a parent. My camper and Camp Agape will always have a special place in my heart!

Camp Agape is a safe place for children to grieve and meet other kids with similar losses. It's also an amazing volunteer opportunity for anyone who is interested in grief counseling! Everyone has lost someone close to them, which is what makes this camp experience life changing to everyone involved. I can't recommend it enough.

Camp Agape is wonderful. As a "buddy," grief coach and chaplain, I've gotten to see how God heals little broken hearts there and heals entire families at the family camp.
