Rewarding Connections

Unexpected Bonds

What if you could help a child navigate their same feelings and emotions of grief in a camp setting?

You know how hard and lonely it can be to heal from losing someone significant in your life. You want to help others share in their grief, but you don’t feel equipped to help. You’re nervous you might say something wrong. Worse yet, you’re not certain if you want to dig up all those emotions you’ve worked so hard to control.

But deep in your heart, you know no one… especially a young child… should have to experience the deep hurt of grief alone.

You know sharing your story can make a difference.

Camp Agape has a way for you to use your past pain to have a present purpose in the life of a child.

Camp Can’t Happen Without You.

Expert Training

All you need to do is bring
your story. We will train and
equip you for the rest. You’ll
be more than ready to meet
your camper opening day.

Rewarding Connections

Our time-tested activity schedule
is purposely sequenced to make
connections naturally. The camp
setting is the secret sauce that
makes connecting easy

It can be scary entering into someone else’s grief.

You may be well down the road of healing, but it can still be hard thinking camp might bring up emotions you have worked so hard to control.

For 22 years we’ve trained and equipped over a thousand volunteers just like you to help bring healing to a grieving child’s heart in an energetic camp setting.

This is how you can help a hurting child.

Hear what others like you say about
volunteering:

I had reservations about becoming a
volunteer. This was out of my
comfort zone. I really didn’t think I
was equipped for the challenge. But
my experience was nothing like I
expected. The training was excellent
and there were other veteran men
there that supported me. I felt
prepared by the time I met my
camper and my confidence on the
last day had increased tremendously.
The experience helped my own grief
journey. Six years later and I’m still
volunteering!

Joe Vogel

Retiree

I was a camper at Camp Agape. The
camp helped me cope with my grief
as a kid and I felt it in my heart to
give back and be a volunteer buddy.
I knew my story of a hard loss could
help another child just like the
volunteer Buddy that helped me as
a kid. But the camp doesn’t just
help the kids. God continues to use
the volunteer experience to heal my
hurts each time I chose to
experience camp with a new child
I’ll be signing up to volunteer again
and again.

Cooper Burgess

Former Camper and Current Volunteer

I had two big challenges to
overcome before volunteering: 1.
making the time in my busy
schedule and 2. overcoming my
fear of not knowing if I was
equipped to help a child. But I’m
glad I said “yes.” Camp Agape
trained and supported me through
the whole process. I will have to say
the experience made me feel like
my grief had a purpose. It was
absolutely worth finding the time in
my schedule to stop and help a
child. And it helped me too.

Volunteer Roger, a dad of two teens, said:

“I was uncertain if being immersed in such an emotionally
charged environment would pick at the scabs of having lost my
parents at the age of 14, potentially revealing areas that I had
not fully dealt with yet.”

Roger showed up at camp and when asked how the experience
made him feel? He replied, “Purposeful.”

While you’re thinking about joining us this summer, here’s
something we hope will be helpful for you.
